Mr.Rupaj Kumar Patra started his career in commercial shipping. He also began contributing articles for an international shipping broadside. As a youth, he had an abiding interest in travel and soon his field of activities covered the entire spectrum of travel; road, air, and sea.
The varied experience gathered during this period triggered the entrepreneurial instinct in him and in 1986, he launched his own international magazine embracing all aspects of transport. What was in the beginning a monthly intermodel transport publication has now grown to form a group having four printed publications and many online as well.
As the Editor-in-Chief of the group of publications, he has travelled worldwide attending more than 3000 conferences during the last three decades.
It was a time when only the passenger sector of the aviation industry was considered as a source of revenue. Mr.Patra could envisage a great opportunity in the Air Cargo sector as a revenue earner especially in developing markets like India and Africa. He launched biennial international air cargo events both in India and Africa to highlight these opportunities and today these events have acquired a great deal of popularity in the world airfreight industry.
With India emerging as the fastest growing Aviation Market in the world, Mr. Patra visualizes tremendous demand in the Aviation MRO in the South Asian region. He is striving for indigenization of Aviation MRO in India and with this objective he has forayed in to this sector by organizing International Aerospace & Defence MRO summit. His Stat Media also organizes multiple events in the Air Transport industry.
