Tribunals are Courts with a pre-defined special area of work. These Tribunals were established to act as a judicial authority while dealing with a certain subject where special knowledge and expertise of the field is desirable rather than the same being handled by ordinary courts which might lack sufficient expertise in dispensing justice to such specialized sectors. Some of the important Tribunals are Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT), Tax Tribunal etc. Just like any ordinary court decision, a decision passed by such Tribunals can also be challenged before higher Courts.
